#buildingpassions is the tag for my book which covers Sir John Wolfe Barry and many other people and topics that feature on this website, which I started developing back in 2017. The full title is: Brunel, Barry and ‘modern’ Victorian architecture.
The book was published in e-format at the end of September 2019 and was launched on 20 November in the Westminster area of London as a print copy available to order from www.buildingpassions.co.uk .
#buildingpassions is also more broadly about re-branding the built environment for many people around the world who have become apathetic about or worse disillusioned with the physical aspects of their communities. This is not just a modern issue, it started way back in time.
I’m not doing anything groundbreaking (forgive the pun) as others have gone before. Roma Agrawal has been instrumental in highlighting the importance of our structural legacy through her bestseller ‘BUILT’ and her wider work in public engagement.
She and I both happen to have been born in India, home of the Taj Mahal, arguably one of the most beautiful structures ever created by humans. Long may we people of the Earth continue to express ourselves in this way, but at the same time build safely to serve our communities for years to come.
